Up To Eight Championship Teams Could Face Points Deductions Due To FFP

Between five and eight Championship clubs could face sanctions from the EFL due to breaches of the Financial Fairplay regulations, according to the Daily Mail.

It is believed that all of these teams had declared their intentions to sell players during the summer transfer window to stay within the rules, but with the market unlikely to open until after June 30th, it means they are unlikely to be able to comply in time.

With that being the case, clubs could be at risk of picking up points deductions. The Mail reports that there is likely to be an appeal from some of the teams for the FFP rules to be relaxed but there could be opposition to such a measure.

Middlesbrough are likely to be one of the eight teams, considering they will no longer receive parachute payments from the Premier League this summer. However, no club is explicitly mentioned in the Mail article.
