REPORT: Premier League Side May Use £15m Defender As Makeweight In Offer For Boro Star

Burnley are considering whether to offer Ben Gibson in a swap deal to sign Dael Fry, according to the Burnley Express.

The Clarets have a long-standing interest in Fry, but it was reported back in April that the Premier League outfit had ended their pursuit after Boro slapped a £25m price tag on the defender.

However, the inclusion of Gibson in any transfer would certainly attract the Teessiders. The centre-half, who moved to Burnley from Middlesbrough for £15m, has been training with his former club after reportedly falling out with manager Sean Dyche.

Even with the Clarets down to just two fit centre-backs, following an injury to captain Ben Mee, Gibson has not been recalled and when asked whether the 27-year-old has played his last game for the club, Dyche replied:

“I don’t know, we will see.”

It is thought that Gibson’s future will be reevaluated at the end of the season, and it will be interesting to see whether they decide to include him in any offer for Fry.
