Monk wants to end September on a high

Boro boss Garry Monk is aiming for his side to end the month of September on a high, with two home games in the offing. His side face Norwich City on Tuesday evening before playing Brentford on Saturday, and the manager is hoping that they can have a convincing finish to a successful month.

Middlesbrough are currently on a seven match unbeaten run in all competitions, and sit 6th in the table – 5 points from league leaders Leeds United. Two wins on the bounce would be the perfect way to keep pressure on their promotion bid, but Monk knows it will not be an easy task.

“We’ve got two games before the break, we are on a run and we want to win every game,” said Monk.

“They are both difficult games, but the Norwich game is the most important because it’s the next one.”

“We have confidence and the players are showing a good understanding in what they need to do and what they’re fighting for.”

“We’re working hard to get a positive end to this run of games.”

The Boro will have forward Adama Traore back from suspension for the Norwich game after serving his three match suspension. Defender Fabio could be a doubt for the game after limping off midway through Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Fulham. But captain Grant Leadbitter is expected to be available for the game after injury doubts.
