Middlesbrough Vs Stoke City: Match Preview & Injury News

Middlesbrough have a tough game on the horizon – Michael Carrick’s men are set to take on a resurgent Stoke City side on Tuesday evening at the Riverside Stadium

Thankfully, Middlesbrough have just two doubts ahead of the weekend, with no players guaranteed to miss out. Former Rangers midfielder Matt Crooks and Dael Fry have been suffering with an illness and missed out on Boro’s previous game, but both could be fit to take on the Potters.

In their last game, Middlesbrough defeated Swansea City by a score of 3-1, despite falling behind in the first half. Goals from Aaron Ramsey, Cameron Archer and former Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom were enough to give Boro yet another win on the road.

Stoke, meanwhile, were also victorious at the weekend as they beat promotion-chasing Blackburn Rovers by a score of 3-2. Stoke were 3-0 up, thanks to a brace from former Liverpool starlet Ki-Jana Hoever and a follow-up strike from Tyrese Campbell.

Middlesbrough are just four points behind Sheffield United in second place. Given the Blades’ spotty form as of late, Boro fans will be hopeful that their team can sneak into the automatic promotion places.

Ahead of the game, the former Manchester United midfielder said: “For me, it’s brilliant to have all the options. Obviously, it does make my job a little harder because I’ve got so many good players to choose from, good people as well, and the lot of them deserve to play. But it is a great place to be to have those options and so much trust in whoever plays or comes on the pitch.

“They’re pushing each other as well, which I’d say is the big thing. Whoever plays, and in training, they’re pushing each other all the time and that can only benefit each individual and certainly the team moving forward.”
