Middlesbrough V Preston – Match Preview & Predicted XI

Middlesbrough V Preston – Match Preview & Predicted XI

Middlesbrough are likely to make wholesale changes for tonight’s game against Preston in the Carabao Cup.

Tony Pulis played a number of academy products in the penalty shootout win over Notts County in the first round, while a number of fringe players were given their chance in the 2-1 win over Rochdale at the end of last month.

The strength in depth that the manager has at his disposal will mean the team he puts out at Deepdale won’t be considerably weakened by making a number of changes.

At his pre-match press conference yesterday, Pulis confirmed that the likes of Ashley Fletcher, Rudy Gestede, Paddy McNair, Danny Batth, Dael Fry and Sam McQueen would all feature.

Jordan Hugill will also be hoping to make an appearance against his former club. The striker was sold to West Ham for £10m in January, and this will be his first return to North End.

Here is how we think Middlesbrough will line up against Preston:

Lonergan

McNair, Fry, Batth,

Chapman, Leadbitter, Wing, Tavernier, McQueen

Fletcher, Gestede

Predicted Score – 0-1 Middlesbrough
