Middlesbrough star exits club after two years at the club

Middlesbrough have agreed a deal to allow left-back Fabio da Silva to leave the club and join French side FC Nantes.

Fabio has spent two years at Boro since joining from Cardiff City, making 54 appearances for the club scoring two goals.

The 28-year-old has signed a three-year deal at the Ligue 1 side, and will now be playing in the same country once again as his twin brother Rafael – who plays for Lyon.

Fabio joined Manchester United as a teenager and made 56 appearance for the Red Devils, he also warned two caps for Brazil during this time.

Writing on his Twitter account, Fabio thanked everyone involved with Middlesbrough, rallying the team to push for promotion.

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone @Boro Staff, players, most of all the fans. I tried to do my best every day and give my all, I hope you can return to the Premier League very soon. Thank you, you will always be in my heart. Up the Boro #UTB”
