Middlesbrough Reveal 21 Year Old Has Signed Three And A Half Year Contract

Middlesbrough have announced that left-back Hayden Coulson has signed a new contract keeping him at the Riverside Stadium until 2023.

The defender was closing in on the last six months of his current deal and Boro manager Jonathan Woodgate is very happy that the academy graduate has signed on the dotted line:

“I’ve always had a lot of belief in Hayden, he did really well in pre-season and has taken his chance with the first team. He’s an example to the young players in our Academy and we believe he has a great future at this football club.”

Coulson’s role in the squad has grown as the season has gone on. He did start the first two league games of the campaign under Woodgate before injury kept him out for a couple of months.

On his return, he did not get his place in the side back straight away, and he had to be patient for his chances. However, he has now started the last five games in the row, with Middlesbrough picking up ten points from those matches.

Coulson has played well as both a left-back and a wing-back so far this season, and he will be hoping to continue his good form over the coming weeks.
