Middlesbrough Plotting Free Transfer Swoop for Wednesday Star

Middlesbrough are weighing up a move for Sheffield Wednesday left-back Morgan Fox, according to reports in the English media.

The 26-year-old is out of contract in the summer and would be available on a free transfer. Considering Boro’s current financial situation, a swoop for a player who would not cost a transfer fee would make sense.

Manager Jonathan Woodgate has limited options at left-back, with Marc Bola having failed to impress since his arrival from Blackpool last July.

The 22-year-old is currently back on loan with the Tangerines for the remainder of the campaign, with the Teessiders having to rely on Marvin Johnson to fill in if Hayden Coulson is unavailable.

With Johnson expected to leave at the end of his current deal in June, competition for Coulson is urgently needed, and it seems Boro have pinpointed Fox for the job.

The Welshman has made 31 appearances for Wednesday in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
