Middlesbrough Keen To Secure Summer Swoop For 5.3M Rated Defender After Eye Catching Performances

Middlesbrough are looking to keep fullback Ryan Giles on a permanent basis after his loan spell from Wolves ends this summer, according to reports in the local media.

The 23-year-old, who has a €6m (£5.3m) valuation on Transfermarkt, has been extremely impressive for the Teessiders, having racked up eight assists in 31 appearances.

Giles was a Chris Wilder signing, but he has continued to flourish since Michael Carrick’s appointment, having started 28 of Boro’s 30 league matches so far this season.

Marc Bola has had to settle for limited minutes as a consequence and, with Hayden Coulson having signed a new deal, there is an expectation that the former Blackpool defender will leave at the end of the season when he reaches the final year of his contract.

However, a lot will depend on whether Middlesbrough can secure an agreement to keep Giles. Wolves are not exactly short of left-backs, with Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno competing for starts, so the Premier League side should be amenable to a sale.
