Middlesbrough Handed Major Boost In Their Pursuit Of Ben Gibson

LA Galaxy have turned their attentions away from signing Burnley defender Ben Gibson, according to reports in the English media.

The centre-back is also a target for Middlesbrough and it looks as though the Teessiders will have one fewer club to contend with in their battle to sign their former player.

A number of MLS clubs are said to be tracking Gibson but LA Galaxy have now reportedly switched their focus away from the 27-year-old in order to pursue Blackburn Rovers’ Derrick Williams instead.

Gibson was training with Boro before the enforced suspension of football fixtures. He fell out with the Clarets over the Lancashire club’s failure to sell him during the January transfer window.

Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate reportedly wanted to bring the defender in on loan, and it remains to be seen whether they will have the money to finance a move for the player in the summer.
