Middlesbrough Closing In On First January Recruit With Pulis Targeting Dutch Winger

Middlesbrough are looking to secure Huddersfield Town winger Rajiv van la Parra on a season-long loan, according to reports in the local media.

The Dutchman was originally targeted by Boro boss Tony Pulis in the summer, but their interest was knocked back by the Terriers.

However, van la Parra has fallen down the pecking order at the John Smith’s Stadium, having failed to play a single minute since October, and it seems the 27-year-old will be allowed to make the switch to Teesside on a temporary basis.

A deal for the midfielder could even be secured before the start of the transfer window, but it is believed the move has yet to be finalised.

Middlesbrough have been keen to add pace in wide areas, and van la Parra is certainly someone who will add speed and guile to Boro’s attack.

Last season, the former Dutch Under-21 international made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing one assist. This campaign, however, the winger has been afforded just five starts by Huddersfield manager David Wagner.
