Michael Carrick “Delighted” With Three Middlesbrough Signings

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick says he is “delighted” with how Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey and Dan Barlaser have all settled in since joining the club in January.

Both Archer and Ramsey were brought in on loan from Aston Villa, while Barlaser was snapped up on a permanent basis from Rotherham United, and Carrick believes all three players have made the expected impact:

“The boys who’ve come in have settled well – all of them in their different ways. And they’re all really important to the group as well. They’re all part of it. It’s never straightforward in terms of bringing players in – will they settle? Will they, especially the younger players, manage ups and downs in form?”

“All three of them have been really good and we’re delighted with how it’s gone. But we’re still looking ahead and pushing them for that little bit more. We try and help to develop them while they’re here and our players. That’s what we enjoy doing as coaches.”

Archer has probably been the pick of the bunch, having hit the back of the net six times and contributed three assists in his twelve games for Boro so far.

His fellow Villa loanee Ramsey has also performed well, having scored three times in seven matches, which is an excellent return from the 20-year-old.

Barlaser, meanwhile, has had fewer opportunities, making five appearances, but he did provide an assist in his only start, during the 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers last month. Carrick will be hoping that the trio can contribute even more during the run-in, as the Manchester United legend looks to guide his team to promotion.
