Journalist Hands Boro Major Transfer Boost As He Confirms PL Club Will Consider Selling 5.3M Rated Summer Target

Middlesbrough will have a chance of snapping up Ryan Giles on a permanent basis this summer, according to The Athletic journalist Steven Madeley.

The 23-year-old is currently on loan from Wolves, and he has played a key role in Boro’s promotion push. When asked about Giles and fellow loanee Dion Sanderson’s future at Molineux, Madeley replied:

“Sanderson and Giles have spent quite a bit of time out on loan, and if Wolves saw them as Premier League players they would have had a chance by now. If Wolves stay up, I imagine they will be loaned out again or sold.”

Reports on Teesside have confirmed that Middlesbrough are keen on keeping Giles at the Riverside Stadium beyond the end of his loan spell so this news is a big boost.

Wolves are likely to demand a decent fee for the fullback, though, especially as he is expected to be in demand following his performances in the Championship this season.

Transfermarkt value Giles at around €6m (£5.3m) and, considering how little Boro has spent recently, that would be a sizeable sum to pay. Of course, if Michael Carrick’s side secure promotion to the Premier League, it probably wouldn’t be an issue.
