Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough are set to take on Huddersfield, as Boro look to continue their promotion charge. It won’t be easy, though – Huddersfield are currently battling for their Championship lives and will not be willing to give up without a fight.
Middlesbrough are expected to be without Matt Clarke and Darnell Fisher for the game against the Terriers, as they both continue to recover from their respective long-term injuries.
Additionally, Anfernee Dijksteel and Matt Crooks are both doubts – however, given the long rest period that Boro have had due to the international break, both players could now be ready to play on Saturday.
The last time the two teams met, all the way back in October, we experienced a bore draw. Both teams were content to sit in and soak up pressure, making for a deathly dull encounter – let’s hope for a more exciting game on Saturday.
Boro are currently third in the Championship table, just three points behind Sheffield United – the Blades have a game in hand over Carrick’s team, though.
Meanwhile, Huddersfield have had a disastrous year after finishing in the playoff spots last season. They currently sit in 22nd, three points from safety – and the team above them have a game in hand.
They’ll need every point they can get. If Middlesbrough think they’re in for a comfortable afternoon, they will need to readjust their mentality – or they risk being made fools of on April 1.
