“He’s A Very Good Player” Woodgate Admits Interest In Manchester City Winger

Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate has revealed he is looking to sign Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts on loan from the Premier League club:

“He’s a very good player, a very very talented player, let’s see if we can get something done, nothing is done yet. If it does, we’ll let you know. He’s a player I like.”

The 22-year-old is currently at Norwich City but his loan deal is expected to be terminated very shortly after playing just 26 minutes in the league for the Canaries this season.

Manchester City are keen to find a club where he can get regular first-team football, after 18 months of struggling to make an impact following a difficult spell with Girona last campaign.

Roberts has shown his ability whilst playing for Celtic on a two-year loan between 2016 and 2018. He played 78 games for the Hoops, scoring 18 goals and providing 26 assists.

The former England Under 20 international will be hoping to kickstart his career if he does seal a move to the Riverside Stadium. Boro have been struggling in the final third of the pitch this season and the winger could provide a much-needed creative spark.
