Guedioura reveals why he hasn’t played for Boro this season

Midfielder Adlene Guedioura has not made a single appearance for Boro all season, despite only making his move to the Riverside in February for around £3.5m from Watford.

In fact, he has only made 145 minutes of football for the Boro in total, and his last appearance for the club game in April.

The Algerian international has taken to Twitter to clear up the question on all fans’ lips about his whereabouts, saying that he is currently sidelined with a torn hamstring.

Guedioura has been undergoing rehabilitation in Qatar, and took the opportunity to thank Doha-based orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital Aspetar, who have been helping him with his recovery.

“I think it’s a tear on my hamstring,” Guedioura said.

“It’s the first time (in my career) for me to have a proper tear. I felt it straight (away).

“It was painful for the first two days obviously.

“But now I’m back here. I used to come here every year and this is why I’m here, for my rehabilitation and getting back quicker – to (come back) fitter for the club.”

Whether or not this means he will play for Boro again remains to be seen, but we wish him well for the remainder of his rehabilitation.
