Chelsea and United keen on Boro star

Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United are said to be scouting Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry, with the youngster starting to make his name as one of the hottest prospects in English football this season.

The 20-year-old has has broken into Boro’s side quite unexpectedly this season after failing to impress whilst on loan at Rotherham last season. He has been a consistent performer in the Championship so far this season under Garry Monk, and there are now several big Premier League clubs circling according to Metro.

As a centre back, Fry has spent his whole career at Middlesbrough except from the short loan spell at The Millers. He has not been involved much over the years mainly due to his tender age, but he has certainly started to stake his claim in the team and it is clear he is now a valued member of Monk’s squad. Should big clubs make a move for the England Under-21 international though, it is unclear just how much it would cost to pry him away from Boro.

Chelsea have also been linked with fellow Boro star Ben Gibson in the past, but the club have done very well to keep many of their stars at the club despite relegation.
