Boro Target Loan Deal For Rangers Wide Man But Face Fight With Championship Rival

Riverside Stadium

Middlesbrough are battling Stoke City to sign Rangers winger Jordan Jones on loan, according to reports in the English media. The Northern Ireland international only joined the Gers from Kilmarnock in the summer but he has fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox.

Jones injured himself after a reckless tackle on Moritz Bauer, which saw him sent off in the closing stages of the Old Firm derby against Celtic back in early September. He then spent the best part of three and a half months on the treatment table with a knee problem.

On his return to fitness, the 25-year-old has not managed to play a single minute, having been omitted from the matchday squad for Rangers’ 2-1 victory versus their Old Firm rivals yesterday.

Jones actually came through the academy at Boro, playing one senior game, before making the permanent move to Kilmarnock in 2016. It appears manager Jonathan Woodgate wants the winger to make a return to the Riverside Stadium.
