Boro Plot Deal For Controversial Former Manchester United Midfielder

Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate wants to sign Sheffield United midfielder Ravel Morrison before the close of the transfer window, according to the Sun.

The newspaper reports that Woodgate is keen to give the former Manchester United academy graduate a chance at the Riverside Stadium.

Morrison signed a one year contract at Bramall Lane last summer but he has only played four games this season under Blades boss Chris Wilder.

Despite having played for the likes of United, West Ham and Lazio, the 26-year-old’s career has been plagued with reported disciplinary problems, although his time at Sheffield United appears to have gone pretty smoothly.

The lack of game time, though, may see him move on from the Premier League side with Boro reportedly prepared to take on his contract for the remainder of the season.

With Patrick Roberts expected to be out for eight weeks with a hamstring injury, it seems Woodgate has set his sights on Morrison as a potential replacement.
