Middlesbrough are battling with Brighton and Derby County over the signature of former Manchester United star Paddy McNair.
The defender began his career at United where he made 27 appearances before being sold to Sunderland in 2016. Last season McNair made 16 appearance for the black cats and chipped in with an impressive 5 goals.
However, their relegation to League One has left the Northern Irishman in search of a new challenge, and with Brighton desperately trying to lure him away with two bids so far it seems they are not the only side interested.
New Derby County manager Frank Lampard also has an eye on the 23-year-old, who could see McNair partnering his former Chelsea teammate John Terry in defence.
Middlesbrough are just as keen on adding some fresh faces to the squad, having narrowly missed out on promotion last season.
It seems likely that McNair will look for a new club this summer, but we will have to wait and see who can tempt the highly sought after defender the most.
