Boro Given Hope In Their Attempts To Secure 29 Year Old Defender

Leeds are unlikely to be interested in signing Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala, according to reports in England.

There has been growing speculation that the Yorkshire club will look to snap up the Spaniard on a free transfer in the summer, with the centre-back’s contract expiring in June.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa is looking for reinforcements for the backline with Ben White due to return to Brighton following his loan spell and Gaetano Berardi expected to leave.

However, despite Ayala’s contract status, it is thought that the 29-year-old would not be a good fit for Bielsa’s style of play.

That could be good news for Boro who would prefer to retain the centre-half’s services, albeit on reduced personal terms, due to the club’s financial situation.

Whether Ayala will end up staying at the Riverside Stadium, it remains to be seen, but a switch to Leeds does look like it isn’t on the cards.
