Boro Eyeing January Loan Swoop For 19 Year Old Premier League Starlet

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick is interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Zidane Iqbal on loan, according to reports in the English media.

The Boro boss knows the 19-year-old well after working with him during his time on the coaching staff at Old Trafford and he would like to explore the possibility of bringing in the player when the January transfer window opens.

Iqbal signed a new four-year contract with the Red Devils back in June and there was some talk that he would be sent out on a temporary basis so he could gain more first-team experience. However, manager Erik ten Hag decided to keep the Iraqi international.

Despite being on the bench for every Europa League group game, as well as a couple of Premier League fixtures, Iqbal hasn’t played a single minute for United’s first team this campaign.

It means Boro could be in with a chance of securing the teenager’s signature if they make an offer in the New Year.
