Boro Among Three Clubs Vying To Seal Loan Of Premier League Defender, With Decision Expected ‘This Week’

Middlesbrough, Derby County and Stoke are all interested in snapping up Bournemouth centre-back Jack Simpson on loan, according to Sky Sports.

The TV network claim that the Cherries have yet to decide whether to loan out the 23-year-old but a decision is expected by the end of “this week.”

Boro manager Jonathan Woodgate is keen to strengthen his options in defence, especially after Dael Fry was taken off with a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw against Birmingham on Tuesday night.

The Teessiders did make a loan enquiry for former player Ben Gibson but Burnley rejected their approach for the 27-year-old.

It seems that Simpson is the main alternative. The centre-half came through the academy at the South Coast club and has made six appearances this campaign. The Cherries’ injury situation could prevent them from loaning the player but they may still send the player out before the window shuts if some of their other stars are able to get off the treatment table.
