86% Of Boro Fans Want Squad Overhaul Following Season Of Struggle

Middlesbrough fans were expecting it to be a season of transition under manager Jonathan Woodgate but not many would have predicted that they would be in a battle against relegation.

Boro are just two points off the drop heading into the final nine league games, level on points with three other struggling teams. Asked whether the squad needs an overhaul in the summer, the vast majority of supporters agreed:

There are a number of players who will be leaving the Riverside Stadium at the end of their contracts anyway. The likes of Daniel Ayala, captain George Friend, Rudy Gestede, Jonny Howson, Ryan Shotton and Marvin Johnson could all depart.

Woodgate would like to keep some of them but unfortunately, the loss of parachute payments will mean financial resources will be very limited. The result being any signings will have to be brought in on a much smaller budget.

With that being the case, it remains uncertain if the Teessiders will be able to bring in players with sufficient quality to improve things.
